What Size Should I Cut the Skirt Steak Pieces?

It’s best to cut the skirt steak into bite-sized pieces for even cooking. Smaller pieces ensure that the meat cooks through evenly, preventing any parts from becoming overcooked or tough. Just make sure to cut it against the grain!

Can I Cook the Frozen Skirt Steak in the Crock Pot?

For the best results and to ensure even cooking, it’s best to use thawed skirt steak. Cooking frozen pieces may lead to uneven cooking, resulting in some parts being overcooked while others remain undercooked.

What Other Seasonings Can I Use for the Skirt Steak?

The possibilities for seasonings are endless! Feel free to experiment with different herbs, spices, and rubs to customize the flavor to your liking. Options like rosemary, thyme, or chili powder can add exciting dimensions to this skirt steak slow cooker recipe.

  1. Can’t wait to try this—I’m always on the lookout for affordable ways to serve steak. Question for you, though: what’s the texture of this steak? In the bottom picture, the closeup with the fork, it looks more like pot roast. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big fan of pot roast too, but if I say we’re having steak for dinner and then serve something closer to a roast, the family might see it as a bait-and-switch tactic! 😂 Thanks!

    • It won’t be like a pot roast, mainly because there is no real liquid to break it down in the crock pot. The skirt steak does have a softer texture though so you can use it in dishes like tacos easily.

    • Hi Liz, This recipe is not grilled at all! The spices on the skirt steak will form a nice crust as it cooks. Enjoy!

    • Hi Jane, Yes! If you use the slow cooker function, you can follow the directions as written.

  2. The packaged skirt steak I buy is always folded in two. Do you leave it folded to cook? Or spread it out single layer in the crock?

    Reply
    • Hi Laura, If your crock pot is big enough, it is best to open it up and place it in as a single layer. I hope this helps!
