Have you tried making apple chicken sausage in the air fryer yet? Once you see how easy it is, you’ll never want to make them any other way again!

Because they’re made with chicken instead of pork, these tasty links are lighter than traditional sausages. And the apple gives them a touch of sweetness that makes them oh-so-irresistible. Best of all, when you cook them in the air fryer, they can be ready in just 10 minutes!

Here’s what I’m going to teach you in this post:

  • The best way to cook chicken sausages
  • Tips for making the most delicious chicken apple sausage
  • What to serve with your air fryer chicken sausage
  • How to cook frozen chicken sausage in the air fryer

I love that sausage can be used as an ingredient in your main dish or enjoyed all on its own. It’s the perfect addition to any plate! The next time you’re looking for a way to round out breakfast or add a little flavor to your main course, definitely give air fryer chicken apple sausage a try.

STEP ONE: Preheat your air fryer to 370 degrees F.

STEP TWO: Place the chicken sausage in the air fryer in a single layer with space between each link for the hot air to circulate.

STEP FOUR: Serve and enjoy!

Does Chicken Sausage Already Come Precooked?

Yes, most brands of chicken apple sausage like Trader Joe’s, Aidells, Al Fresco, and Johnsonville are already fully cooked. I love that I can simply throw them in the air fryer, cook the links until heated through, and I’m ready to serve!

Tips for Making the Best Air Fryer Chicken Sausage

  • Lay the links in a single layer in the air fryer with space between each one for the hot air to circulate properly and really crisp out the outside.
  • When you’re flipping the sausages, you can also spray them with cooking spray to help them get a little crispier. This is entirely optional.
  • Because chicken is a leaner protein, you may want to let the links rest for a few minutes after they finish cooking before slicing into them. This will help the sausage retain its juices.

What to Serve with Chicken Sausage in the Air Fryer

And here is a big list of air fryer vegetables to try with them too!

How Long Does Chicken Sausage Take in the Air Fryer?

If the sausage is already pre-cooked, 8 to 10 minutes should be plenty of time. I always recommend flipping the sausage halfway through for the most even cooking.

However, if your sausage is raw, keep in mind that it will take longer to cook all the way through. For chicken sausage, you’ll want to cook them in the air fryer until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F.

Can I Freeze Chicken Sausages?

You bet! Since the sausage is fully cooked, I would recommend freezing them prior to air frying. When you’re ready to enjoy them, place them in the refrigerator overnight to thaw, then cook as usual. You can also follow the directions in the next section to cook them directly from frozen.

If you have leftover air fryer chicken sausage you want to store in the freezer, that’s fine as well. You’ll still want to cook them in the air fryer again when you’re ready to serve to heat them all the way through.
