My Easy Way to Make Biscuits in the Air Fryer

I love adding biscuits for a nice carb on the side to basically all dinners. They’re just so easy to make and it’s so surprising how it took so long to make them into air fryer biscuits.

I remember the first time I made these biscuits in the air fryer. Dinner was supposed to be done in 10 minutes and my oven was not even on. I eyed up my air fryer, shrugged, and said to myself “It’ll work.”

What I didn’t realize is just how fast they would cook and the extra bits of crispiness the tops would get on them when air fried.

My husband Ben even asked me if I made different biscuits than usual because they tasted so different, in a good way.

I have not cooked them in the oven since because why preheat the entire thing when I can have my biscuits air fried in half the time. And they taste better anyway?

Why should I Air Fry Biscuits instead of using an Oven?

I prefer using the air fryer over the oven whenever possible because it’s faster and doesn’t heat up my whole kitchen. I also love that when I air fry biscuits, they get the best crust on the outside while staying super soft and fluffy on the inside!

STEP ONE: Preheat the air fryer to 320 degrees F.

STEP TWO: Place a piece of parchment paper or a liner in the air fryer basket. Add the biscuits to the basket, leaving space between each one so the air circulates around them.

Tips for the Best Frozen Biscuits in the Air Fryer

  • Preheat the air fryer before cooking frozen biscuits. Just like the oven, I’ve found this activates the baking powder and helps the biscuits rise much better than starting with a cold air fryer.
  • I make sure to leave space between each frozen biscuit in the air fryer so the air can properly circulate. My air fryer basket can fit about 6 biscuits at a time without overcrowding.
  • I use a silicone liner or parchment paper round so the air fryer biscuits don’t stick to the basket. Since the biscuits are still raw, as they start to thaw while air frying, they can stick to the holes of the basket.
  • Flip the biscuits halfway through the cooking time. This is how I make sure they cook evenly and get that wonderful, golden crust on all sides.
  • I always air fry frozen biscuits for at least 15 minutes even if the outside looks done sooner than that. The outside browns before the inside is done, so I resist the temptation to take them out early.

What to Serve with Air Fryer Frozen Biscuits

Air fryer biscuits are perfect to serve with any classic breakfast foods like bacon or turkey bacon, sausage patties, and fried eggs or scrambled eggs!

I also love serving fluffy biscuits as a side dish for air fryer pork chops, air fryer chicken thighs, air fryer meatloaf, and air fryer chicken tenders.

Can I Cook Canned Biscuits in the Air Fryer Instead?

I love making air fryer canned biscuits! I have a wide air fryer oven, so I can fit a whole can of Pillsbury canned biscuits in a single layer. For smaller air fryers, I recommend cooking in batches to prevent overcrowding the basket.

I preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees F, use a pastry cutter to separate the biscuits if necessary, line the air fryer basket with parchment paper, then place the canned biscuits on top. I air fry mine for 5 minutes, flip the biscuits to help them cook evenly, then air fry for another 2 minutes.

Air Fryer Biscuits FAQs

Can I make from scratch biscuits in the air fryer?

Yes, a homemade biscuit recipe can also be made in the air fryer too! But, the cooking time and temperature will depend on the recipe used. I recommend starting with a lower temperature and adjusting from there and using a pastry cutter to make each biscuit the same size to cook evenly.

Topping ideas for air fryer frozen biscuits

For a classic combination, I like to brush my buttermilk biscuits with melted butter, add a drizzle of honey, and sprinkle with sea salt for that sweet and savory goodness! My kids love them with jelly, and my husband’s absolute favorite is smothering them with country gravy for a hearty southern breakfast!

How long to cook frozen biscuits in the air fryer

When I make Grands frozen biscuits, 15 minutes is usually the perfect amount of time to get the perfect texture with flaky layers! I cook the biscuits for 8 minutes on one side, flip the frozen biscuits in the air fryer, then cook for 7-8 minutes on the other side.

How to reheat biscuits in the air fryer

Whether I have leftover frozen air fryer biscuits or I brought some extras home from KFC or Popeye’s, I never let a good biscuit go to waste! I preheat the air fryer to 320 degrees F, place the leftover biscuit in the air fryer basket, then cook for 2-3 minutes until the biscuit is warmed through.

How to store leftover biscuits

I let my biscuits cool completely before storing them in an airtight container. They stay fresh for about 2 days at room temperature, but if I need to keep them longer, I store them in the refrigerator for 5 days. For even longer storage, I’ll place them in a freezer bag in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Why are my air fryer biscuits getting dark on the outside so quick?

When my biscuits get too dark too fast, it’s usually because the temperature is too high. I cook these at a low heat to make sure they don’t burn on the outside before cooking all the way through.

  1. You give instructions for ‘canned biscuits’ in your notes. I’d like to try them, as that’s what we usually buy, but I have a question…
I’m guessing the canned biscuits are refrigerated NOT frozen when added to the preheated air fryer… correct?
