STEP ONE: Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees F and wash and trim the green beans.

STEP TWO: In a medium bowl, whisk together the egg and egg white.

STEP THREE: In a small bowl, use the back of a large spoon and crush ¼ cup of panko crumbs as finely as you can. In a wider dish, combine the crushed panko and the remaining ¼ cup of panko, parmesan, and seasoning.

STEP FOUR: Place a few green beans in the egg wash, making sure to coat them well. Use a fork to lift them out, shaking off any excess egg, then place them in the panko. Mix until the beans are very well-coated.

How to Store Leftovers

If you have extra green bean fries, make sure to let them cool to room temperature. This will prevent condensation that could make the breading soggy.

Once they’ve cooled completely, place the fries in an airtight container. You can store them in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Can I Use Frozen Green Beans to Make Breaded Green Beans in the Air Fryer?

Unfortunately, frozen green beans won’t really work for this recipe. However, if you have a bag of Bird’s Eye crispy green beans from the freezer section at the store, make sure to check out my recipe for Air Fryer Frozen Green Beans for the best way to cook them!

Tips for Making the Crispiest Air Fryer Green Bean Fries

  • Crush the panko breadcrumbs as finely as you can. These smaller crumbs will help coat all of your green beans for maximum crunch.
  • When you dip the green beans in the breadcrumbs, use your fingers to cover them in the breading. Flip them over on all sides to get as much of their surface covered as possible.
  • When placing the breaded green beans in the air fryer, leave room between each one to allow them to get nice and crispy. I usually cook mine in 2 batches.
  • If you want the fries even crispier, after the initial cooking time is up, spray the tops with a little oil using an EVO Oil Mister. Close the air fryer and cook for an additional 1 to 2 minutes.
