STEP ONE: Spray an air fryer pan with cooking spray, then set aside. I used a 7-inch round cake pan.
STEP TWO: In a large mixing bowl, add the cornbread mix (the 8.5-ounce package), egg, and milk. Mix until the ingredients are well-combined.
STEP THREE: Transfer the batter to the prepared pan, then place the pan in the air fryer.
STEP FOUR: Cook at 320 degrees F for 12 minutes.
STEP FIVE: Cover the pan with aluminum foil, then continue air frying for another 4-5 minutes until the cornbread is cooked through.
Can You Make Air Fryer Cornbread Muffins Instead?
Absolutely! This is a great way to make single servings of cornbread if you don’t want to deal with cutting the full cornbread into slices.
To make air fryer cornbread without a pan, start by grabbing silicone muffin cups. I would still recommend spraying them to prevent the batter from sticking.
When you’re filling the silicone molds, you only want to fill them about ¾ of the way full. This will prevent your batter from spilling over the sides as it bakes.
Only fill as many liners as you can fit in your air fryer at one time.
Due to their smaller size, the muffins will cook faster than the full batter in one pan, so make sure to keep an eye on them.
If the tops are looking golden but the insides are still wet, you can cover them with tinfoil. Otherwise, you may be able to skip that step if the muffins cook all the way through without burning on top.
How Long to Cook Jiffy Cornbread in the Air Fryer
This is going to depend on the make and model of your air fryer. I find that 16-17 minutes works well for making cornbread in a pan, although I recommend covering the pan with tinfoil after 12 minutes.
This will keep the top from burning while the cornbread cooks through.
The easiest way to tell when cornbread is done is to stick a toothpick into the center. If the toothpick comes out clean or with just a few crumbs stuck to it, the cornbread is ready.
If the toothpick comes out with some batter on it, you know it needs to cook a little longer.
What to Serve with Air Fryer Cornbread

Can You Use Buttermilk For Jiffy Cornbread?
You bet! You can use any kind of milk you like for this recipe. I usually use regular milk just because I always have it in my refrigerator, but if you have buttermilk on hand, feel free to use it.
How to Store Leftover Cornbread
First, let the cornbread fully cool to prevent any condensation that could make it soggy. Next, store your extra muffins or slices in an airtight container or plastic bag.
They’ll stay fresh in the refrigerator for a few days, or you can store them in the freezer for up to three months.
