Whether you usually make them in the toaster or just eat them straight from the package, cooking pop tarts in the air fryer will change everything.

The filling gets perfectly warmed but not scalding while the pastry turns golden and crispy on the edges. They’re so good!

Here’s what I’m going to teach you in this post:

  • The super easy method for cooking air fryer pop tarts
  • How long it takes to cook a pop tart in the air fryer
  • What flavors of pop tarts work best for this recipe
  • What to serve with air fryer pop tarts

I like to make air fryer strawberry pop tarts because that flavor is so classic to me. How can you beat that sweet-and-sour jam and thick sheet of frosting?

But of course, you’re welcome to try any flavor you like for this recipe.

Fair warning: once your kids try this goodness, they’re going to be begging you for pop tarts all the time.

At least they’re super easy to make! Whip them up for a fun breakfast, after-school snack, or even dessert. They’re seriously that tasty!

I made this recipe using the 5.8 QT Cosori Air Fryer. Its square basket makes it the perfect size for our family of 4.

How Long to Air Fry Pop Tarts

The cooking time may vary depending on the number of pop tarts in your basket and your air fryer design.

There’s always going to be a slight difference between brands and models.

Overall, you want the filling to be heated all the way through and the pastry to be nice and golden. For me, 3-4 minutes does the trick every time.

I just recommend checking on them and experimenting until you get the timing perfect. Consider it an excuse to keep eating air fryer pop tarts!

How Many Pop Tarts Can You Make in the Air Fryer at Once?

This is going to depend on the size of your air fryer. Feel free to cook as many as you can fit in a single layer in the air fryer basket.

Since they cook so quickly, it’s easy to make several batches in a row to avoid overcrowding and still have breakfast ready in 10 or 15 minutes.

You may have a bit of overlap depending on the size and shape of the basket, which is okay. The most important thing is to make sure the hot air can circulate around each pop tart.

That way, they’ll get toasted on all sides, and the frosting will get nice and melty.
