STEP FOUR: Preheat the air fryer to 370 degrees F. Spray the bottom of the air fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray.

STEP FIVE: In a clean plastic zipper bag, add the flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and baking powder. Seal and shake well to combine.

STEP SIX: Working in batches of 3 to 4 at a time, remove the tenders from the egg, allowing excess to drop off, then place them in the bag with the flour. Seal and shake the bag to evenly coat the chicken. Transfer the tenders to a plate, shaking off any excess flour, and repeat with the remaining pieces.

STEP SEVEN: Place the tenders in an even layer in the air fryer basket, working in batches if necessary to avoid crowding the basket. Generously spray the tenders with cooking spray until the flour appears damp.

STEP EIGHT: Air fry the tenders for 8-10 minutes, then flip and spritz them again with cooking spray.

Can You Make Air Fryer Chicken Tenders with Flour and No Breadcrumbs?

You bet! The flour coating gets amazingly crispy in the air fryer, so you get that satisfying crunch without the hassle of breadcrumbs. And the meat inside stays so wonderfully juicy and tender!

Trust me; these no-breadcrumb tenders will have everyone reaching for seconds.

Do You Need To Marinate Air Fryer Chicken Tenders?

This step is optional, but if you have the time, I always recommend it. The acidity of buttermilk helps tenderize the chicken for super juicy pieces. Seriously, it’s so good.

And all you have to do is throw the tenders in a bag with buttermilk and let them sit for at least half an hour! Unless you’re short on time, it’s definitely worth it.

How Long Does it Take to Cook Air Fryer Chicken Tenders with Flour and Egg?

The exact cooking time will vary depending on the size of your tenders as well as the size and brand of your air fryer.

For me, 15-20 minutes is the perfect cooking time, which includes flipping the tenders halfway through.

The key is to cook them until the tenders are golden and the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F. An Instant Read Thermometer is the best way to know when they’re fully cooked!
