Mac and Cheese with Cream Cheese

Three flavorful cheeses, including cream cheese, seriously boost the yum factor of this homemade mac and cheese. Hot and ready in under an hour. What’s not to love?

Ingredients

– 1 pound elbow macaroni – 3 tbsp unsalted butter – 3 tbsp all-purpose flour – 2 cups milk – 1 cup heavy cream – ½ tsp kosher salt – ½ tsp pepper – ⅛ tsp nutmeg – 4 oz cream cheese – 12 oz white cheddar cheese – 8 oz gruyere cheese – 1 cup breadcrumbs

In a large pot, boil pasta in salted water according to package directions. Drain, rinse and set aside in the pot.

In a saucepan, melt 3 tablespoons of butter until bubbling. Add in the flour and whisk for 2 to 3 minutes, until  golden brown. Slowly whisk in the milk and heavy cream, until smooth. Add salt, pepper, and nutmeg.

Step 2

Add the cream cheese and whisk Repeat with the grated cheeses and whisking until melted, smooth, and thick — about 4 to 5 minutes.

Pour the cheese sauce over the cooked pasta to serve immediately!
