Iced Thumbprint Cookies


– Unsalted butter, softened – Sugar – Vanilla extract – All-purpose flour – Salt FOR THE ICING: – Powdered sugar – Milk – Vanilla extract – Red or green food coloring

Cream together the butter, sugar, and vanilla.

Step 1

Slowly add in the dry ingredients. Then cover the dough with plastic wrap. Chill for 1 hour.

Step 2

Form cookie dough balls. Place them on the baking sheet

Step 3

Use your thumb or the back of a small measuring spoon to make a small hole in the center of each cookie.

Step 4

Bake for 10 mins. Press the indentions again. Place the cookies back in the oven. Bake for 6-8 minutes and cool.

Step 5

Place icing in a plastic bag, and cut off the corner. Fill the centers of the cookies.

Step 6

Let them sit overnight to set up.

Step 7
