Made with fresh garlic, poultry seasoning, and turkey broth, my turkey gravy without drippings is perfectly smooth and comes together in just 15 minutes total! I love serving it with turkey, biscuits, and of course, mashed potatoes!
In a small sauce pan, melt the butter on medium heat.
Add the minced garlic, poultry seasoning, salt and pepper. Using a whisk, whisk to combine the seasonings until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
Slowly add in the flour, whisking the entire time for 3 minutes or so, until it darkens. This cooks the flour and deepens the seasoning.
Continue whisking as the turkey broth is added. Add it slowly, whisking continuously as it is incorporated. Once it has all been added, bring the gravy to a boil. Once it reaches a boil, reduce it to a simmer and allow to thicken, whisking occasionally. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
Notes
If you can't find turkey broth, use chicken broth for the closest flavor.
Whisk the flour until it darkens. This cooks the flour while also adding depth to the recipe.
Warming up the turkey broth before gradually pouring it in makes it easier to mix and results in a nice, smooth consistency.
To remove lumps from my gravy, whisk it continuously as it cooks. For an even smoother gravy, strain it through a fine mesh sieve before serving!
Let the gravy simmer uncovered so that the broth reduces and the mixture thickens.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.
Reheat leftovers on the stove top over medium-low heat, stirring frequently. Add a splash of broth or water to help loosen the gravy as it thickens.
