These crack green beans are a quick and deliciously addictive side dish. Fresh green beans are sauteed with crisp, salty bacon and tossed in a sweet-and-savory glaze. Enjoy these green beans with roasted chicken, pork chops, or steak!
Add the bacon to a large skillet set over medium heat and cook until crisp and browned– about 7 minutes. Remove the bacon from the skillet with a slotted spoon and set it aside on a paper towel lined plate to drain. Remove all but 2 tablespoons of bacon grease from the pan.
Add the trimmed green beans to the same skillet and sauté them in the bacon grease for 5 minutes, or until they are just beginning to soften and brown.
In a small bowl, whisk together the light brown sugar, melted butter, soy sauce, garlic powder, kosher salt, and cracked black pepper until well combined.
Pour the brown sugar mixture over the green beans and stir to coat the green beans in the glaze.
Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the glaze has thickened and the green beans are crisp-tender.
Add the crisp bacon back to the green beans and stir to combine. Enjoy immediately.
